Relaxor Ferroelectric Polymers for Actuation
P(VDF-TrFE-CFE/CTFE) terpolymers are a special class of polymer exhibiting relaxor ferroelectric behavior. Unlike conventional piezoelectric materials, RFPs produce a giant electrostrictive strain, a significant change in shape and size, when an electric field is applied. This massive strain capability is the key to creating powerful and efficient actuators.
